Therapy FAQs

Starting therapy often comes with questions. Here are a few of the most common things people wonder before getting started.

  • I offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy, as well as EMDR intensives. I also provide specialized support for first responders and their families, therapy for fellow therapists, and clinical supervision toward licensure.

  • Yes! I offer virtual therapy for clients in Arizona and Washington. At this time, all services are provided via telehealth.

  • Arizona, but I can meet with clients via telehealth across Arizona and in Washington.

  • Please fill out the contact form or schedule a free 15-minute consultation to start the process of discovering how sex therapy can transform your life. Once we schedule your initial consultation call and determine that working together will be a good fit, you will receive a unique link to our HIPAA-compliant portal via Simple Practice to confirm your intake appointment and complete the required intake paperwork.

  • This is a private-pay practice, so sessions are paid out of pocket rather than billed directly through insurance.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide documentation for possible reimbursement.

If you have specific questions about insurance or out-of-network reimbursement, feel free to reach out.

    Good Faith Estimate (GFE):

If you are paying out of pocket for services you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate.

A Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. GFE is available upon request.

  • We accept credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, personal checks, and cash. Most clients keep a card on file in our secure system for easy, contactless billing.

  • No. A diagnosis is not required unless you choose to use insurance and it is necessary for reimbursement.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process trauma and other distressing experiences using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to support the brain’s natural healing process. EMDR therapy is commonly used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress, including work-related trauma experienced by first responders.

EMDR intensives provide extended, focused sessions and are available via telehealth for clients located in Arizona and Washington, allowing for deeper therapeutic work in a shorter timeframe compared to traditional weekly therapy.

  • Perinatal mental health refers to emotional and psychological well-being during pregnancy, postpartum, and the first year after birth. It includes concerns such as postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, mood changes, and adjustment challenges that can occur during pregnancy or after delivery.

Perinatal mental health therapy supports individuals and families through these transitions and is available via telehealth for clients in Arizona and Washington, helping parents feel supported, grounded, and emotionally well during the perinatal period.

  • I am available to speak during my regular office hours (Wednesdays and Thursday’s 9-5 pm and Fridays 9-1 pm MST). If I receive contact via phone or email from you, I will respond within 1-2 business days. I am unavailable via telephone or text outside of my regularly scheduled availability. If you need crisis support outside of my regular availability, you may contact 988 (suicide and crisis helpline), 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • I understand that life happens and schedules can change. To support consistency of care and to allow availability for other clients, missed sessions and late cancellations (cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time) are charged a $190 Session Fee.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please reach out as soon as possible by phone, email, or through secure messaging in your SimplePractice client portal. The following notice periods are required to avoid charges:

    • 1-hour sessions: at least 24 hours’ notice

    • 2-hour sessions: at least 48 hours’ notice

    • EMDR Intensives: at least 2 weeks’ notice

Thank you for your understanding and for helping keep care accessible for everyone.
